Sunsets are my favorite time in Florida, especially on the water. I was inspired to paint this because of a beautiful blue heron watching my son and I play on a local golf course. They are amazingly impressive birds. As I started putting it together, I was also inspired by the color scheme of Van Gogh’s sunflowers - beautiful blues and golds are such a stunning combination. I also love how the spray paint touches bring depth and interest to the water. I hope whoever brings this painting home with them will experience peace and a smile every time they see it.

I cannot take full credit for this title. I use my paintings as my background for my video calls, and this is one of my favorites. One of my colleagues commented that the swans and music notes reminded him of the Wagner Opera, “Lohengrin.” I loved it! My inspiration for this piece was to show dramatic nature in action in a beautiful way. The way the spray paint landed also inspired how it turned out. It always adds beautiful, uncontrolled, unpredictability which is why I love to incorporate it into my paintings. In fact, the prism effect in parts of the water is one of the reasons I love this piece. Whoever buys this will buy a piece of my heart!

Marvel at true and majestic power with foam bursting beneath their hooves, golden light dancing on dark waves, and the night humming with untamed energy. In their wild momentum, we are invited to break free, to chase horizons, and to enJOY the boundless power of the moment.

What little girl does not grow up loving horses? I sure did. I was blessed with being able to ride growing up. While I never fulfilled my dream of owning a horse, I remain in awe of their beauty, their muscles, and their gentle yet powerful nature. I may not own one, but I can paint many.

My inspiration for this piece was simple: I had new gold paint - warm and cool, and I loved this gold and blue color palette. It’s magical, so why not a beautiful magic Pegasus! It deserves to be in a young girl’s bedroom.

On the shores of Florida, time slows, water whispers against the shore, colors collide and shift with the light, and silence speaks in ripples. A great blue heron invites you to pause, to breathe, and to simply enJOY the quiet perfection of the moment.

These two great blue heron paintings are painted in the Florida colors loved by my mother. They remind me of our annual trips to Captiva Island with these colors in each sunset, and the gorgeous herons looking for their next meal.

Imagine if natural water dreamed. It would dream in the color and shapes shifting in the quiet rhythm of dawn, in the light feathering its mirror-smooth surface, and of the Great Blue Heron gracing its shores. And in that dream, it would invite you to listen, to breathe, and to enJOY its deep and timeless peace.

In creating this piece, I invite collectors into the heart of Africa — to feel its pulse, its history, and its spirit. The zebra is an African icon -  so much more than funny, little striped horses. Here, the zebra leaps beyond those surface perceptions, revealing richness, strength and complexity. Look closely at their stripes and you will see an entire spectrum — blues, purples, silvers, browns, and pinks — a reminder that individuality is never confined to first impressions. Surrounding the Zebra are traditional African symbols meaning humility, strength, nurturing, faithfulness, and God. It is a celebration of the might and beauty of Africa which we can all enJOY.

Female cardinals do not get enough credit for their beauty. Of course the bright red males are eye-catching, but the females have so many beautiful colors including red, gold, yellow, ochre, white, black, brown, and sienna. She is just as beautiful as her mate. I also painted her with her mate in the tropical Spring/Summer because she is the queen for all seasons. EnJOY!

How can the vibrant and stunning blues, reds, greens and yellows of parrots not take your breath away?! An artist can only hope to do them justice with layers of phtheo blue and green, ultramarine blue, dioxinine purple, alizarine crimson, cadmium red and indian yellow. Of course, that makes them extra rewarding to paint. This beauty was also inspired by Elli Milan and her obvious love of parrots as well. One day he will bring beautiful JOY to someone’s home!

Cockatoos have so much Joyful character, you cannot help but smile at these beautiful birds. Their gorgeous white feathers, and expressiveness make them the star no matter how much beautiful tropical color they are competing with. The vibrant birds of paradise, however, given them a run for their money with their stunning royal blues, popping pinks, and the yellow-orange which matches the cockatoos’ crowns. How could you not see the similarities in shape, color and style between these cockatoos and beautiful flowers. I had so much fun painting this, and I was asked to paint it again for a commission, and I didn’t mind at all! EnJOY!

There is little more beautiful than colorful birds surrounded by vibrant flowers. What a gift nature allows us to enJOY.

I painted animals and nature for years, but never a bird until a few years ago. While looking for inspiration one day, I came across a photo of a Bee-eater. After painting this beauty, I was drawn to birds in my art. They are so beautiful, they look like AI made them up – but so much better. You won’t find Bee-eaters in North America. Instead, you will have to travel to Africa, Southern Europe, Asia or Australia. These comical and stunning Sun Conure Parrots inhabit Brazil, Venezuela and Guyana. No wonder avid birders will travel across the world just to enJOY their incredible plumage. There are so many ways to find beauty in this world. The reason I paint is to bring these beautiful parts of the world to you.

I have to credit Elli Milan for the source and Dimetra Milan for the lesson to reinforce some good brushwork used in this painting. For the first several years as a professional artist, I never painted a bird, and now, I can’t seem to resist them in my paintings. There are so many varieties, and so beautiful and fun (often hard) to paint. I love it when brushstrokes suddenly turn into a 3D feather. When you get it right, you can’t help but smile. I guess that is why people love to paint flowers too. I loved pulling these flowers out of the abstract underpainting, and leaving some of the “happy accidents,” which I call “happy gifts,” untouched by the overpainting

When I was asked to paint roseate spoonbills, I didn’t know much about them. While spoonbills are plentiful in Florida, Roseate spoonbills are rare. I also happened to have a new can of vivid hot pink spray paint I wanted  to experiment with, and these extraordinary birds gave me the perfect subject. As I painted these beautiful birds, I was struck by the way their brilliant color both softens and electrifies the landscape. This piece is one of my surprise favorites – one I hope you also enJOY!

My family is crazy about sharks (with very healthy respect!!). We live near the beach, so a favorite past-time is combing the beach looking for sharks teeth, which are fairly common here - thankfully - if you know how to find them. So after painting “Space Puss” I had to paint this awesome shark, who quickly got named “Space Bruce.” (Keep swimming! Keep swimming!) I really hope you recognize the Nemo reference. I haven’t seen many artists paint sharks, but after painting this amazing, terrifying, and beautiful creature, I will be painting more in the Underwater Universe!

My family is fascinated by Octopi! They are so smart and otherworldly (the octopi, but my family too. :) ). We always say they must be from another planet. Recently, I wanted to start an underwater series, but I wasn’t sure what to paint. This idea actually came to me in a dream after looking through hundreds of underwater photos for inspiration. I love the underwater photos from below with the sun beaming through the surface. I dreamt the surface was a galaxy since they look very similar, so I combined the two, and of course, an octopus was a perfect subject. As he was being painted, my family dubbed him “Space Puss” so it had to be part of the title. I hope you enJOY pondering where the sky ends and ocean begins, or if there is a beginning or ending at all.
