Meet Your Artist
Art has always been part of my life, but it played a quiet, supporting role. As an attorney, I turned to creativity as a way to unwind—painting with my twins, crafting for fun, or simply escaping the demands of the professional world. But everything changed in 2016 when I took a paint-and-sip class. What started as a casual night out turned into something more—a need to paint. Before long, I was attending these classes alone, then buying my own paints, carving out time on weekends and late nights to bring my visions to life. Then, the unexpected happened—someone bought one of my paintings. Another asked me to paint a cherished memory. And just like that, there was no turning back.
In my journey as an artist, I’ve been fortunate to learn from incredible creatives, both through “YouTube University” and as a student of the Milan Art Mastery Program. But as important as good technique is, the true inspiration behind my work is my deep love for exploration, experiences and finding joy in the beauty of the world. My family and I have always valued adventure over possessions. Whether we’re marveling at humpback whales breaching in Alaska, wandering the streets of Rome and Prague, or simply paddling down a quiet creek close to home, those moments of wonder and joy endlessly shape my soul. (That’s why we still drive our beloved 2000 Toyota 4Runner instead of chasing the latest model!)
This philosophy fuels my art. I believe in creating pieces that transport you—paintings that spark memories, evoke emotions, and offer a moment of warm escape from the everyday. If, after a long and stressful day, you can look at one of my paintings and feel a sense of happiness, nostalgia, or adventure, then I have done my job as an artist.
I’m still a lawyer (for now), but for the past ten years, I’ve been honored to call myself a professional artist. Artist Biography
Heather Owen has been a professional artist for almost 10 years. In 2026, she completed the Mastery Program with the Milan Art Institute, headquartered in Sarasota, Florida. Heather’s style is Mixed Media Abstract Realism, and while Heather can paint any subject she puts her mind to, including land and waterscapes, underwater, space, people, and plant life, her favorite subjects are animals of all kinds. She enjoys that moment when the animal emerges from the canvas and takes on it’s personality. While she loves all artistic media and tools, spray paint makes a showing in all of her pieces. She finds that it and complimentary stenciling adds surprise moments and a unique airy quality to her pieces.
Heather has been exhibiting and selling her work for 8 years in the Gallery at York Hall in Yorktown, Virginia, where she has also served as the featured artist on several occasions. In October, 2025.Heather was also selected as the Featured Artist of the Month at Jerry’s Artarama, in Jacksonville Florida. Heather also enjoyed creating commissions for several businesses including popular YouTuber, EazySpeazy.
Art is her passion and she plans to increase her participation in shows and actively pursue galleries in the near future.
